Dirty to Clean cards

29Sep13:

Oooh, my final entry before I upload/post everything. So I figured I’d go back to an old illusion.  When I first began card magic I learned about the “dirty card”.  The concept is used to help the magician FIND a card. This made me think of the opposite notion. What if I wanted a spectator to believe they had a free choice of any card from a spread deck, but needed them to pick one particular. Could I use the “dirty card” principles here? Indeed, but rather than use a dirty card as the name implies, I decided to go with a “clean card”.  The idea is this: people are attracted to brighter colors, so what if I could take some low grade sand paper and sand off just a shade or two off the back of a card. To make it JUST noticeable to pick but not so much to be able to discern how the trick was done?  Did it and it works nearly 100% of the time. Aside from it working, no one has ever even noticed the difference in intensity.

TOO much light!!!

28Sep13:

So my Vectorworks is STILL giving a whole lot of issues.  Because of the issues I have been drawing and writing everything out, which is really no big deal to me since I think my handwriting is very nice.  Today is simply re-writing everything out to make it all cleaner and orderly. My issue has been the lighting. Lol, a little while ago I put new lights in every room of the house, so the paintings and wall colors would pop more. What I failed to do however was take into account the purpose of dimmers.  After all this writing and drawing and whatnot under these bright white lights, my eyes have grown way too tired…crazy tired.

Light weights

Continuing from yesterdays post, I noticed the same thing with just working out.  Today the lights in the gym were just a little dimmer than they were yesterday.  I found myself a little less energetic and more talkative actually.

Clarity in motion

Just thinking of my old days of playing football.  I noticed I’d always play better when colors were more vibrant.  It was strange to me how a day with no wind or rain, just a slight overcast could make me play just slightly worse than on a day when everything was perfectly clear and distinct.

Rope a Doped by cats

25Sep13:

I have two cats.  One is black and white and the other is all white.  When I look at the all white cat by herself she looks completely snow white.  Then I look at my black and white cat alone and his white suddenly pops more than hers.  When I bring the two together however, I can see that the white of her coat is definitely whiter than the white in his.  Looks like my eyes fell susceptible to the old rope a dope. Or maybe I’m just getting old lol.

The color of the wind...

You ever notice how sometimes we put a color to a song, or a certain memory, or something like a month?  For me April has always been purple, and august has always been blue.  I think of red and white when I listen to Tupac, but yellow and orange when I listen to most country.  Then while I listen to a new song I often see or “feel” certain colors specific to the tones I’m hearing.
